The Association of Twins and Multiple Birth Clubs is an organization brings together the Twin and Multiple Birth Clubs that have been operating independently in different regions in the Czech Republic since 1995. It is the only organization focussing on providing specialist services to parents of twins and multiple births. It operates through a system of self-help groups and solidarity among the parents of twins and multiples. There are now 45 Twins and Multiple Birth Clubs all over the Czech Republic and new branches join every year. Representatives of the regional branches set up the Association of Twins and Multiple Birth Clubs in 2003 in order to better coordinate and further twins’ interests and needs among specialists and the general public.

The association is headed by its president, PaedDr. Klára Vítkova Rulíková, the founder of the first Twins and Multiple Birth Club in the Czech Republic, the author of several books on twins’ upbringing and development, as well as being a breastfeeding and family counselor. The other executive committee members are JUDr. Marcela Bergerová, the mother of three children, two of whom are a pair of adult identical twins (one of the founding members of the Twins and Multiple Birth Club, a specialist on health exercises not only after birth, and someone club members have been meeting regularly at social events for 15 years) and MUDr. Jarmila Haubnerová, also an experienced mother of three children, including a pair of twins, and a longstanding member of the Twins Club in Prague – Barrandov. The Association of Twins and Multiple Birth Clubs is a member of ICOMBO– the International Council of Multiple Birth Organizations, and it works closely with Czech LALI organizations (Lactating League), NEDOKLUBKO (an organization that provides support for the parents of premature infants), and the MC Network (some mother centers lend equipped playrooms for Twins Club activities). We offer systematic support in setting up and running Twins and Multiple Birth Clubs, expert advice (pedagogical, psychological, social, and lactation), lectures and seminars with topics focusing on twins and multiples (ranging from birth to adulthood).
